“VeraSolis is a collaboration between 2 young winemakers from the Itata Valley in Chile, Ronald Vera and Pablo Solis. Ronald is a third generation winemaker, having grown up working the vines with his father and grandfather. After his studies, he returned to help in the vineyards and was the first to bottle their wine in 2016. Pablo, since he was 5, has always worked with his father and the vines. Because of his hard work, he was given a vineyard to work on his own and eventually inherited more land from his grandmother.
All farming practices are organic using horses in the vineyard and fertilizer made from manure and guano (from seagulls). Both winemakers note that the most difficult challenge for their farming is the slopes of Guarilihue (their village) which holds them to 100 year old traditional farming practices. Technology, therefore, can not be used in their vineyards and so all labor is done by hand and horse.
The Itata Valley benefits from 4 distinct seasons, which the winemakers give credit to for a sufficient water supply. The vines are dry farmed and mature to optimal ripeness with gradual temperature changes. VeraSolis wines are clean, bright expressions of Cool Climate Chilean Wine made in the tradition of the first winemakers in Southern Chile.”

“VeraSolis es una colaboración entre 2 jóvenes enólogos del Valle de Itata en Chile, Ronald Vera y Pablo Solis. Ronald es un enólogo de tercera generación, habiendo crecido trabajando las vides con su padre y su abuelo. Después de sus estudios, volvió a ayudar en los viñedos y fue el primero en embotellar su vino en 2016. Pablo, desde los 5 años, siempre ha trabajado con su padre y las viñas. Debido a su arduo trabajo, le dieron un viñedo para que lo trabajara por su cuenta y eventualmente heredó más tierra de su abuela.
Todas las prácticas de cultivo son orgánicas utilizando caballos en el viñedo y abono a base de estiércol y guano (de gaviotas). Ambos enólogos señalan que el desafío más difícil para su cultivo son las laderas de Guarilihue (su pueblo), que los mantiene en prácticas agrícolas tradicionales de 100 años. La tecnología, por lo tanto, no se puede utilizar en sus viñedos, por lo que todo el trabajo se realiza a mano y con caballos.
El Valle de Itata se beneficia de 4 estaciones distintas, a las que los enólogos dan crédito por un suministro de agua suficiente. Las vides se cultivan en secano y alcanzan la madurez óptima con cambios graduales de temperatura. Los vinos VeraSolis son expresiones limpias y brillantes del Vino Chileno de Clima Frío elaborados según la tradición de los primeros enólogos del sur de Chile.”
